Texas Christian University Historians:
Welcome to the TCU Historians website! This website has been created in order to better inform the students, faculty, alumni, and visitors on TCU's campus. As students ourselves, we have a special place for TCU in our hearts; part of holding TCU dear to our hearts is being able to access and understand the history of the school. We have come to the conclusion that there is a pressing problem across campus when it comes to accessing history about the school and it's important monuments. Many seniors in high school visit TCU from all around the country, and the informational tours offered at TCU demonstrate that our monuments around campus, such as Frog Fountain and the Founders Statute, are an important and relevant piece to TCU as a community. However, once the walking tour of campus is over, students often forget the importance of these monuments, and bypass their mere existence every day. We have taken it upon ourselves to reintegrate the historical monuments on TCU's campus back into the lives of each person involved in the TCU community. We have chosen four well-known and visible monuments around campus, and we have done research in order to perfect the history of these monuments among this website. In today's day and age, many people cary around a smartphone with the capability to scan a QR code, which allows people to utilize a free application to scan a particular code and that code will redirect the user to this website. Everyone who reads and scans the QR codes around campus is entered into a drawing after answering a question about a specific monument. The various prizes include a $10 Starbucks gift card, a $25 Visa gift card, 2 box seats to a TCU football game, and a $100 Visa gift card.
